Trailers

The use of trailers in Porto was limited. The steep streets made the use on many routes complicated. Besides that a brakes man was obligatory on all trailers which resulted in a four men crew on all motorcar + trailer combinations. There were four classes of trailers.

• The most numourous and oldest trailers were former mule & steamtram cars.

• The largest trailers were the bogie series 1-7.

• Fumistas: three four wheel trailers built in the thirties.

• The Pipis of the late forties were converted into motorcars.
