4-wheel cars reconstructed by the STCP

The 131 with retractable steps

Even of the "Plataforma-Salão" different types existed: one with the roof of the platform smooth connected to the roof of the saloon, and a more angular connected type. The 134 (with the Coca Cola advertising) has narrow corner pillars and a smooth connection between the platforms and the saloon, the (brown) 143 broad corner
pillars and angular connection between the platforms and the saloon.

By 1950 the STCP started to modernise 4-wheel cars. At first by extending the platforms like the series 200-223. But also by fitting doors and, with part of the cars, retractable steps. Risca ão meio 107, the Ingleses 115 & 116 and the Brill's 120 & 138 did get extended platforms while Constructora 113, Inglese 119 and the Brill's 123, 124, 129, 131, 134, 137, 141 & 143 also were fitted with retractable steps. In later years this latter feature wasn't used anymore.

Together with the series 200-223, the Belga's, the Brill Bogies and the unique 169, these reconstructed cars were the last working the classic Porto tram. Nowadays only the 143, brought back in its livery of the second half of the forties, is in service. 113, 131 and 134 are still in store. 137 went to Santos (Brasil)

The 131, 205 & 213 on the Passeio Alegre. All working on line 18 and suffering delay caused by wrong parked cars (Summer 1995). The 131 (with the advertising) is a bit lower compared to both others.
