After the first World War the CCFP
did start
tram-building in their workshops. Between 1924 and 1937 the CCFP
built tens of cars of the Brill-28 type. In many
aspects these cars were similar to the trams delivered by Brill in 1910-12,
but with saloons of 2.40 m width instead of the 2.25 m width of
the original cars. Howmany cars of this
type were new constructed by the CCFP is not known. The estimation is about 36-40.
Of 28 cars it can be presumed quit reliable they were new constructed by the workshops:
-
CCFP 288-295 (STCP 188-191 & 172-175) in 1929
-
CCFP 192-199 (STCP 192-199) in 1932
-
CCFP 316-320 (STCP 176, 177, 168, 167, 180) in 1934/5
-
CCFP 181-187 (STCP 181-187) in 1936/7
But not only new cars were
constructed, also a number of the original Brill-23 type cars were reconstructed to
increase the seating capacity from 23 to 28. This was probably done in
the period 1925-1937. The estimation is that about 30 cars were
reconstructed in this way.
All these cars are known as Brill-28. During the
years 1938-1946 part of the cars were reconstructed into the Brill-28
Plataforma-Salão type. Data about the (re)constructions performed by
the CCFP workshops do fail, which makes it hard to point the origins of
the individual cars.
By 1946, when the municipilaty took over, 43
Brill-28 cars were present.
