Revenue

In 1958 these lines took part of 8.2% of the revenue of the tram system.

Remarkable

During a period by the end of 1979, after suspending the night services, Av. Boavista was receiving a new pavement; huge holes were made in the road at Bessa, where the tram tracks go to the middle of the avenue. These works lasted quite a long time, because, new sewage pipes had to be laid. Because of this, the cars were forced to ride on the tram tracks, which, with the heavy traffic, became very bad to circulate. To spare the buses, the STCP decided to reintroduce during that period the night service of trams, and that is why line 16 circulated again!

The lines 16 & 17 closed 31 July 1977.
