The (early) history
of the Porto tram is very indistinct. There is a lack of company
records, the Boavista-depot fire of 1928 destroyed many cars, the
company renumbered (parts of) the fleet several times (but
reasons and sequence are, except for the renumbering by the STCP
around 1948, unknown) and contemporary articles fail. Until now
the literature about the history of the Porto tram is still
limited.
The data recorded
on this site are, besides my own observations and the results of studies by Pedro Milheiro, Henrique Dias,
Emídio Gardé and
Luis
Almeida, a combined abstract and my interpretation
of the data out of the following books and publications:
