Brill-bogie

Brill-bogie of 1904

In 1904 the CCFP acquired from Brill a semi-convertible car on 27G trucks and open platforms. The car had seats for 32 in 2+1 transverse configuration and four Siemens motors. The original number of the car was 90, since 1907 it was 190 and about 1913 it became 191. From 1918 until 1924 the car was used as a trailer on the Marginal. In 1924 it got GE 270 motors and the number 226. Probably at this time also the platforms were closed. With the STCP it had the number 249. In 1967 the equal wheel bogies with 55 hp motors were replaced by maximum-traction bogies with 68 hp motors. In 1970 the car was sold to the Rockhill trolley museum in Pennsylvania USA.

Brill-bogie of 1926/8

In 1926 the workshops of the CCFP constructed two new bogie cars inspired by the existing car of 1904. They got the numbers 200 & 201. These cars were wider than the original, which made a seating arrangement of 2+2 possible. Total capacity was 40 seats. In 1928 six more cars were constructed. These were even a few centimetres wider and numbered 268-273. With the renumbering done by the STCP the 268-269 became 274-275 and the 200-201 became 276-277. In 1950 these cars got 89 hp BTH-114 motors. All eight cars survived although 273 left Porto for Crich. Car 274 belongs to the museum collection, 275 and 277 are available for hire and the other cars are in storage.
