Freight branches
There existed also a number of branch lines and sidings,
which normally were used only by freight trams. The
following overview is probably not complete and not all
lines existed at the same moment.
- São Pedro da Cova, mines. Opened in 1917,
original the whole line from Rio Tinto was used by coal
trams only. There existed passes for travelling on the
coal trams. In 1918 most of the line was also used by
the trams of line 10/, but from the terminus of this
line the coal line to the mines continued until the
closure of the Massarelos power plant in the 1950’s.

- Rua Silva Tapada – Monte Aventino. Since 1916 coal was
also transported from the mines in São Pedro da
Cova to Monte Aventino by a rope way, from where it was
transported by tram to Massarelos or other customers.

the factory of A Constructora (not electric)
- Branch line Coats & Clark VN de Gaia - March 1908,

connection from the line in Rua Roberto Ivens to this
branch line. This Fabrica was between Rua Teixeira de
Melo, Rua Carlos de Carvalho and the linha para
padreiras de S.Gens. (on the site of Gist-brocades)
