Line 3 Palácio and LordeloRoutesUntil October 1934 except for a short return in June & July 1936:
HistoryThe Palácio de Crystal was already since March 1875 served by mule-trams. At first this was a direct route between Porta do Olival (Cordoaria) and Palácio de Crystal, but since the late 1870's with a complex circular one-way route: Boavista - Carvalhosa - Cedofeita - Carmo - Cordoaria - Praça Duque de Beja - Palácio - Rosário - Breyner - Cedofeita - Carmo - Clerigos - Praça Dom Pedro V - Rua Dom Pedro V - Bolhão - Formosa - Duquesa de Bragança - Thomas - Sta.Catarina - Gonçalo Cristovão - Capmo da Regeneração - Carvalhosa - Boavista. The cars of this line were indicated with green plates or lights.With the electrification in 1903 the Palácio service was split off from the circular service. The Palácio line did get the number 3 in 1912. In 1934 was the colonial exhibition in the Palácio de Crystal. The same year the route opened through Rua Julio Dinis via Palácio. Several existing lines on the route from Carmo to Boavista via Carvalhosa got a parallel line via Palácio. When the colonial exhibition finished, line 3 was closed as its route was served by the new lines. Only in June and July 1938 line 3 returned for a short period. In 1945 line 3 returned again, now extended to Lordelo. This new line was closed already in 1959 to be replaced by trolleybus line 35. In November 1960 the existing line 4/ was renumbered to 3.
