Tram museum

Since 1992 Porto has its own tram museum in the old power plant of Massarelos. The collection of rolling stock is comprehensive. A visit to the museum (and to the beautiful city of Porto) is recommended. For more information visit the site of the museum.

Tramcars which belong to the collection of the museum

Not all cars are at the exhibition
  • 1 - Trailer on bogies made in 1909 by the local company "A Constructora" as the first of a series of seven, the other six being build in 1911.
  • 8 - Americano or mule-tram made by Starbuck, probably in 1872/3 for the CCAPFM. Likely the car was reconstructed getting an enforced bottom frame and extended platforms in the first decade of the 20th century.
  • 18 - Trailer "Fumista" made in 1934 by the workshops of the CCFP as one of a series of three trailers of this type.
  • 22 - 4-wheel motorcar of the first type likely made in 1900 by the local company "A Constructora" but representing the first type of electric tramcars in Porto converted out of existing steamtram trailers in 1895.
  • 25 - Trailer "Pipi" made by the workshops of the STCP in 1946 as one of a series of six, although only one car was temporary used as trailer, all others were used as motorcar only.
  • 49 - Overhead repair motorcar made by the workshops of the CCFP in 1932.
  • 58 - Open electric freight tramcar of unknown builder and year of construction.
  • 66 - Open electric freight tramcar of unknown builder and year of construction.
  • 80 - Open freight trailer of unknown builder and year of construction.
  • 100- Open cross-bench motorcar, replica made by the workshops of the STCP representing a type of open mule-cars converted in 1904 by the local company "A Constructora" to electric tram. In fact this replica is significant larger than the two original tramcars.
  • 104 - 4-wheel motorcar converted from mule-cars, replica made by the workshops of the STCP in 1997 representing a type of mule tramcars made in 1871/2 in England for the CCAPFM and converted by the CCFP to electric tram around 1899-1902.
  • 163 - 4-wheel motorcar "A Constructora" made in 1904/6 by the local company "A Constructora" as one of a series of twenty-four.
  • 247 - 4-wheel motorcar "Carro Inglês" made by UEC of Preston as one of a series of five, reconstructed by the workshops of the CCFP likely in the 1930's with changing the platforms into the "Brill type".
  • 250 - 4-wheel motorcar "Brill-32" or "Italiano" made in 1926 by the workshops of the CCFP as one of a series of twelve.
  • 267 - Bogie motorcar "Fumista" made in 1930/1 by the workshops of the CCFP as one of a series of four.
  • 269 - Bogie motorcar "Fumista" made in 1930/1 by the workshops of the CCFP as one of a series of four.
  • 274 - Bogie motorcar "Brill" made in 1928 by the workshops of the CCFP as one of a series of eight.
  • 288 - Bogie motorcar "Belga" made in 1928 by the Belgian company Familleureux as one of a series of ten.
  • 315 - 4-wheel motorcar "Fumista" made in 1929 by the workshops of the CCFP as one of a series of sixteen.
  • 373 - 4-wheel motorcar "Pipi" made by the workshops of the STCP in 1952 as last of a series of 24 cars of this type.
  • 500 - 4-wheel motorcar "Carro 500" made by the workshops of the STCP in 1951 as prototype of a new generation of tramcars.
