Trolleybus network
The STCP intended to modernise the network with replacing
the trams by trolleybuses. This modernisation was only
partly effectuated. In fact the tram even did survive its
supposed successor. During the years the following
trolleybus lines did exist:
- 9 - Bolhão - Praça Marquês de
Pombal - Rua Costa Cabral - Areosa - Águas Santas
- Ermesinde (Opened 17 November 1968 as successor of
tramline 9. Replaced by Diesel buses August 1994)
- 10 - Bolhão - Bonfim - São Roque - Venda
Nova (Opened 10 September 1967 as successor of tramline
10. Replaced by Diesel buses 9 May 1977)
- 11 - Bolhão - Bonfim - São Roque - Santa
Eulália - São Pedro da Cova (Opened 10
September 1967 as successor of tramline 10/. Replaced by
Diesel buses 4 March 1995)
- 12 - Bolhão - Bonfim - São Roque - Santa
Eulália - Gondomar (Opened 10 September 1967 as
successor of tramline 10//. Replaced by Diesel buses 4
March 1995)
- 14 - Hospital de São João -
Circunvalação - Alto da Serra (Short
living trolleybusline in the 1990's)
- 29 - Bolhão - Praça Marquês de

extended to Campanhã 4 March 1960 as successor of
tramline 12. Replaced by Diesel buses from 17 November
1968 until 17 May 1970 except for peak hour extras.

Depot of the trolleybuses was Carcereira, replaced by Areosa
on 26 October 1968.
